Pampa PD Investigating 2nd Homicide of the year

PAMPA , TEXAS –

At around 01:16 A.M. On Saturday, 09/27/08 Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Perry St. In regards to someone being shot.  When Officers arrived they found 19 year old Carlos A. Hernandez of 115 N. Starkweather of Pampa, lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head.  Hernandez was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital by Lifestar.  Investigators recovered the weapon near the scene of the shooting.  On Saturday evening Officers arrested Juan D. Cano for aggravated assault after he was found hiding behind a vacant house in the 300 block of N. Wynne.  Cano was booked into the Gray County Jail and bail was set at $250,000. 

On 09/29/08 at around 10:00 P.M. Hernandez died as a result of his injuries.  Cano, who remains in the Gray County Jail, has been charged with murder.  In reference to the murder charge, Cano's bail was set at $1,000,000 (1 million).

It is believed that Cano and Hernandez got into an argument at which time Cano produced a .22 caliber rifle and shot Hernandez in the head.  This case remains under investigation.
