For Immediate Release:
Pampa PD Officers are still investigating a late night crash that killed one
On December 8, 2007 at approximately 0230 hours Officers were dispatched to the Railroad Crossing at Starkweather and Atchison in Pampa due to a train vs auto crash. A 45 mile per hour east bound BNSF train struck a 1994 Ford Explorer SUV. The SUV was traveling south bound across the tracks. The driver of the SUV disregarded the crossing gates and continued across the tracks when it was struck by the train. At this time officers are investigating if there were more occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Antonio Miera, age 30, of Pampa was transported by Guardian Ambulance to Northwest Texas Hospital where he was treated for his injuries but later died.
An east bound freight train struck the SUV, Miera was an occupant of, at around 2:30 A.M. on the morning of December 8, 2007.
