Assault and Unlawful Restraint Warrant Leads to Foot Chase and Drugs

PAMPA , TEXAS

On Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at around 7:30 P.M. Pampa PD officers attempted to serve arrest warrants in the 700 blk of Roberta Street. Officers went up to the door at 725 Roberta and were let in. Once inside they attempted to arrest Edward Lee Briley age 29 of Pampa. While making the arrest the officers noticed Briley hand what appeared to be a baggie of drugs and a wad of cash to, Briley's girlfriend, Amanda Hilton age 23 also of Pampa. Briley then took off running out of the house and down the street. Officer Chad Johnson and Gray County Deputy Rhett Rowlins gave chase. Briley was caught by the officers one block away in the 700 block of Naida. Briley was taken into custody without further incident. Officers went back to the residence and located Hilton waiting at the front door of the residence. She was taken into custody and her children released to a relative.

Briley was charged with:

•  Assault Causing Bodily Injury Warrant

•  Unlawful Restraint Warrant

•  Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to Deliver

•  Evading Arrest

Hilton was charged with:

•  Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Both were booked into the Gray County Jail awaiting arraignment. Justice of the Peace Martinez later set bonds on Briley totaling $210,000.00. Bond set on Hilton was $1,000.00.
