PAMPA POLICE DEPARTMENT LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD VOLUNTEERS
PAMPA , TEXAS –
We live in a fast moving, ever changing environment and all or our team members throughout the City have more than their share of responsibilities to keep up with. For many years we have been dealing with complaints in regards to parking issues, primarily as they relate to disabled or handicapped parking. As part of our efforts to increase volunteerism within the City and push for a safer and friendlier Pampa, we would like to propose V-PEP (Volunteer Parking Enforcement Program). Many cities have started similar programs and are showing great success. The police department would hold volunteer trainings for citizens interested in getting involved in protecting their communities and helping fight disabled parking abuse.
The program is designed to ensure individuals whose needs require accessible parking spaces have those spaces available. With generous help of citizen volunteers, we as a City are better able to ensure parking space availability to those who need it most.
Volunteers are required to attend a special 4 hour training session and pass a background check. Once complete, volunteers are empowered to issue citations to those who abuse disabled parking spaces. Volunteers who serve will be provided with an ID card, safety vest, magnetic sign for vehicle, and a police radio.
For more information about the Volunteer Parking Enforcement Program, please give us a call at 806-669-5700, come by the Police Department, or check us out on the web at www.pampapd.net
